Fixed Wireless Internet now in rural Kentucky with more on the way

Dear Friend,

This month, we were pleased to begin announcing the availability of our Fixed-Wireless Internet service in underserved parts of rural Kentucky.

Once again, Kentucky is leading the way, welcoming innovation and investment, and opening the door to greater broadband access in our rural communities.

In the coming months, we will hold events across the Commonwealth to announce additional availability of this high-speed connectivity.

We all know that expanding access to broadband is a key priority for leaders at the local, state and federal levels, and this program is a great example of how private industry and the government can work together to address a clear community need.

The more than 2,600 men and women, who work for AT&T and call Kentucky home, are working every day to turn our investments into the high-speed connectivity that Kentucky’s residents and businesses demand, and through this innovative service, we are further closing the remaining connectivity gap in rural Kentucky.

This initial activation is part of our FCC Connect America Fund commitment to serve more than 84,000 underserved locations with this technology across Kentucky by 2020.

Our Fixed-Wireless Internet is a cost-effective way to deliver high-quality, high-speed internet to customers living in rural and underserved areas and delivers a home internet connection with download speeds of at least 10Mbps from a wireless tower to a fixed antenna on customers’ homes or businesses.

I will provide updates about additional availability as our teams continue to deploy this infrastructure to communities across rural Kentucky.
